Founded in Los Angeles, California in 2009, Foster the People are initially known as the Foster and the People has become one of the most popular bands of all times. The band was formed by Mark Foster who had spent several years as a struggling musician in Los Angeles, working as a jingle writer for commercials. The drummer Mark Pontius joined the group because he was impressed by the number of various songs Foster had written. The bassist played by Cubbie Fink who was Foster’s longtime friend. In 2010, they released ‘Torches’ which was their debut album. The album had a hit song ‘Pumped Up Kicks,’ which lead the Startime International to give the band a record deal. The song was also used by Nylon Magazine as an online marketing campaign and was number three on Billboard HOT 100. The group gained fame by appearing in small club shows at music festivals where they gained experience in live performance. In 2011, the band started to perform in much larger crowds, and in January, they had a concert in Echo Night Club Los Angeles, which was a turning point in their career as they had hundreds of fans trying to get into the venue. By the end of 2011, the band got two Grammy Award nominations for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the tune “Pumped Up Kicks’ and the Best Alternative Music Album for the Torches. The band continued with the tour in 2012, and the final one for Torches was in July of 2012. In the 16 months that the band made the tour, they had performed in 295 shows. The second album, Supermodel was released in 2014. In September 2015, Cubbie Frank Left the band, and in October 2016, the band released a third album known as Lotus Eater. On April 5, 2017, the band announced that they would be doing a world tour during the summer months.
